Unless otherwise noted, the Woman’s Club of York events will be held at the Country Club of York at 11:30 AM on the third Friday of the month. The costs for each program are as follows:

Members: $29.00 – Lunch, Meeting & Program
Guests: $35.00 – Lunch, Meeting & Program

Members have an option to enjoy the meeting and program without lunch at no charge. This option is available to members only.

FALL LUNCHEON AND CARD PARTY
at the Outdoor Country Club

 This year’s fashion show will be presented by “COMPASS ROSE” boutique located in Olde Tollgate Village on S. Queen St. York. All the latest fall/winter fashions will be modeled by our WCY members. Fashions and accessories will be for sale after lunch. As always, there will be lovely baskets to be auctioned, plus a 50/50 raffle, door prizes and prizes for card winners. This is the club’s fall fund raiser, so invite your friends to join us for lunch/fashion show and remain for games of your choice. Doors open at 11:30.

November Luncheon: Thanksgiving Table Arrangements

House of Flowers is a very unique floral shop which specializes in Tropicals Plant, Houseplants, Cacti, Succulents, Bonsai  and Hydroponics. House of Flowers also specializes in customized Floral Bouquets for weddings, birthdays, retirement and more. Classes are offered year round in floral design.
Today Kathryn will demonstrate “how to” design a beautiful Thanksgiving arrangement to dress up your Thanksgiving table.

Distinguished Young Women is a nation-wide scholarship program which recognizes the accomplishments of high school students.
Girls in their junior year in a York County high school may apply to this program that provides rewards for scholarship, leadership, and talent.
Participants in the 2025 DYW program will present a Christmas Showcase for The Woman’s Club of York. They will show their performing talents during this Holiday season.

February Luncheon: Susquehanna to Freedom

Dr. King began her Penn state career in 1994 in the School of Humanities teaching creative writing. She also taught introduction to theatre, Effective Speech, Slavery on American Film and Theatre Historical Context.
In 2007, she helped to plan a Storyteller Series featuring performers representing African-American, Jewish and Native American cultures. building on the momentum of this series, she helped to facilitate a Cultural Folktales program in 2012 which highlighted stories by African-American, Korean and Native American elders.
Today Dr. King will enlightened us on how slaves in this area escaped to Freedom via the Susquehanna River and the Underground Railroad.
Dr. Dorothy King holds an undergraduate degree from Temple University and a Masters degree from New York University. She earned an Ed.D from Teacher College, Columbia University. Dr. King is founder of Pen-Owl Productions Theatre Company in Harrisburg, PA.

March Luncheon with Speaker: Denise Gilliland

Denise Gilliland is a third generation member of the DelGrosso family, the oldest family owned producer of pasta sauce in America. Denise is the Director of Culinary Creations for DelGrosso Foods, where she creates recipes and cooking videos and promotes her family’s delectable sauces at food and wine festivals, artisan events and television appearances around the country.

Denise had the ultimate thrill of cooking on the Today show with Kathie Lee and Hoda in 2010.

Denise is the founder and President of Pink Power, a 501 (c3) organization that raises money for local breast cancer patients in need at Wellspan York Cancer Center, UPMC Hillman Cancer centers in York and Harrisburg, Penn State Cancer Institute, and Vinnie Myers Pink Ink Project. Since 2017, they have raised over $1,000,000!! As a 16-year breast cancer survivor, Denise wants to raise awareness and spread hope as she inspires others to thrive during their journey.

Denise looks forward to sharing her Pink Power and DelGrosso family stories and how these two parts of her life have shaped her into the women and philanthropist she is today.

April Luncheon Program: The World of Gardening
Lunch 12:00pm • Program 1:00pm

Theresa Coleman currently a Horticulturist at Millbourne Garden. While at the estate, she cares for the Rhododendron Garden, King Edwards Garden, and Sundial/Rose Garden as well as helping in other areas as needed. She received a Bachelor’s of Science in Horticulture and a minor in Biology from Penn State. Throughout her career, she has grown her knowledge while working for various institutions such as Longwood gardens, The Philadelphia Phillies Landscape Crew, The National Arboretum, National Cathedral, The Arboretum at Penn State, and Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden. For National Gardening Month she will be discussing the Joy of Gardening and the beautiful gardens at Millbourne past, present, and a glimpse into the future.
